Rusty Wallace closes team's doors

Rusty Wallace made one of the most difficult decisions any owner could make last Friday. Rusty Wallace Racing has shut its doors. The 2-car Nationwide team ran out of money and lost their biggest sponsor. 5-hour Energy will move to higher ranks in the Cup series for Michael Waltrip Racing on Clint Bowyer's 15 car next season. RWR team business members are staying to look for sponsorship possibilities. Michael Annett was let go to look for any rides with his family sponsor Pilot Flying J. Steve Wallace, son of Rusty Wallace, is being assisted by the team to find a ride. Although they are not racing in 2012 doesn't mean they are gone for good. They plan to take a break and refocus for future seasons.
Rusty Wallace said in a statement, "One of the hardest parts of this decision was knowing the impact that it would have on our employees and their families. It's just the unfortunate reality that our sport is facing right now. We wish all of our employees the very best in the future."
RWR isn't the only team to suffer a sponsorship, Roush Fenway lost UPS as a sponsor for the No. 6 car of David Ragan and Red Bull pulled out as a sponsor and a team.
